New Beginnings in NOLA

August Volunteer Hours: 5

Semester Volunteer Hours: 5

It's only my first week out here!

Just last week, my mother, brother and I went on a 5 hour roadtrip from Houston, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana. In just one week, I moved into my new apartment, attended a bowling social with my classmates, started classes as a 1st year Master's in Pharmacology student, volunteered at the Louisiana Children's Museum and got settled in as a whole. I have never lived outside of Texas so this is a very new experience for me!

As previously stated, I volunteered at LCM this weekend. It was an opportunity presented to me by the College of Biomedical Sciences here at Tulane School of Medicine and it interested me because I enjoy working with children. During the experience, I definitely got my workout in as a "playologist"as I acted as a customer in the community kitchen with kid chefs and listened to them play the piano and trumpet for me in the music room. I enjoyed every part of this experience and It made me look forward to working in pediatrics as a future physician.

I am so excited for what the rest of my program and the rest of my time in New Orleans holds in the future!
